Grants

NY Ag & Markets offers two primary grants per year to farmers, the Non-point Source Abatement and Control Grant and funding through the Climate Resilient Farming Program. For both grants Soil and Water Conservation Districts apply for funding on the behalf farm operators. Farm operators must be in the AEM program to eligible. NYS Agricultural Non-Point Source

Abatement & Control Grant Program

The Agricultural Nonpoint Source Abatement and Control Program offers cost-share to improve water quality affected by farming. It provides financial and technical support for on-farm projects aimed at implementing best management practices in New York's agriculture. Grants, awarded through county Soil and Water Conservation Districts, can cover up to 75% of project costs, focusing on environmental planning and management practices like nutrient management and conservation measures.

Climate Resilient Farming Program

Climate Resilient Farming (CRF) Program aims to mitigate agriculture's impact on climate change and enhance the resilience of New York State farms. Grant funds projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote carbon sequestration and improve adaptation to climate challenges like storms and drought. The competitive grants are awarded through county Soil and Water Conservation Districts in three categories: agricultural waste storage cover and flare for methane reduction, on-farm water management, and soil health systems. Funding originates from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund.
